We Run the Internet—Let’s Run the Election

Hey friends, let’s talk. We’re the new adults so our participation in elections truly matters. Our absence at the polls lets others pick our future— the worst decision ever.
We’re the Game Changers
We helped TikTok reach millions of users, made the Y2K fashion trend again, and stood up against celebrities who crossed the line. Our power to transform internet trends can also transform how elections work.
Don’t believe that your vote doesn’t have any value. Wrong. When most students don’t do their part on group projects, everyone ends up with poor results—this is what happens in elections, too. Every student has been part of a group project where only one person actually did the work. We must step up now for our own future.
The data is clear: Gen Z now makes up one of the biggest voting populations. We can control the next steps because of our numbers. The choices we make at the polls will determine our planet’s health, how we get an education, and whether everyone gets fair treatment.
Your Vote Matters
Think for yourself. When we young people don’t vote, our older generations make decisions about our future. Do we really want people who make silly mistakes with technology to decide what’s best for us? Let’s make sure our voices are heard by voting!
Don’t Make Excuses Like
- “I don’t have time.” Your vote takes under 15 minutes to complete, the same as or less time than your typical social media entertainment session.
- “One vote won’t make a difference.” In some races, the winner is chosen by only a small number of votes. A few votes = real change.
- “I don’t know enough.” If you can keep up with online trends, you can easily research politicians online.
- “The system is manipulated.” By staying away from the polls, you give an advantage to current leaders. Play smart.
What can you do?
1) Register to vote. It’s easy. Do it now. Seriously.
2) Learn about the candidates. You only need basic political knowledge to see which candidates back the issues you’re passionate about.
3) Make a plan to vote. Vote as soon as possible, whether ahead of time, through the mail, or when election day arrives—make sure you participate.
4) Hype your friends. We can use the same enthusiasm people show for pumpkin spice lattes to get them fired up about voting.
5) Use social media for good. Share helpful voting info, send reminder messages, and correct false facts. We can share voting details as powerfully as we share popular internet memes.
Final thoughts
We have power—let’s use it. Our participation in elections determines the direction we take together. We need to participate and take action to create a future that benefits us. So, bestie, let’s do this. The Earth will appreciate your action one day. We need to take action to make our democracy work properly.
